Du GATT à l'OMC
Dès 1943, les Etats-Unis ont convié la Grande-Bretagne à diverses sessions de travail pour réformer les relations monétaires internationales et favoriser le rétablissement de relations commerciales normales.
Principes
Un des résultats majeurs de « l’Uruguay round » est l’accord qui voit la création le 01 janvier 1995 de l’Organisation Mondiale du Commerce ou OMC.
Les Accords de Marrakech
Long cycle de négociations entamé en 1986, « l’Uruguay round » se conclut au terme de 1993 avec sa formalisation par la signature de l’Acte final le 15 avril 1994 par les Ministres de 123 pays à Marrakech, au Maroc. On parle ainsi indifféremment des « Accords de l’Uruguay », des « Accords de/sur l’OMC » ou des « Accords de Marrakech ».
Organisation et fonctionnement
A la tête de l’OMC se trouve la Conférence ministérielle qui est l’Autorité supérieure habilitée à prendre des décisions sur toutes les questions relatives aux accords commerciaux multilatéraux.
